Has anyone experienced both of these wakes, the boats seem to have the exact same hull, as seen in another thread, but what about the wakes? Sorry to hijack your pics brandon, but this needs to be discussed man, haha. heres some pics http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/3183/339301.jpg

I have not been behind a Super Air but own a 2001. Everything that I have heard is that the 2001 will produce the same (or very similar) shape wake with weight. You will not match the size of a slammed SAN wake with a slammed 2001, the 2001 would sink before you got enough weight in it.

Jon hit it on the head. I've ridden both. I own the 2001 and like it alot. I just wish I could get it bigger like the SAN. Also the wakes seem a little differnt in that I cant ride past 75 on the 2001. the wake becomnes a curb. The SAN slammed at 80...heaven! Of course this only addresses the differenc in wakes.

IMO, wake shapes are not the same between these boats. I use to own a 2001 and have ridden a SAN many times, both sacked out as much as possible. The 2001 doesn't even come close to the SAN. The 2001 has a steeper wake with less transition. The wake is also softer then on a SAN. Again, just my opinion. Not trying to start an argument.

Yeh, I mean it makes sense, 20 years of technology means a change in something hopefully.

Lyle it is actually alot less than 20 years. 2001 Hull started in 82 and ran through 89. Then current Super Air Hull was a direct drive boat in the early 90s. In 95 it became a v-drive hull and in 99 they attached a tower and called it a super air. Neither of these hulls were produced with wakeboarding in mind, they just got lucky.

I'm not saying that either had wakeboarding in mind, or that the 2001 is the same hull as the super air. I'm simply saying that there is an extreme similarity between the two hulls. It actually has been 20 years of development from one company, not on the exact same boat.

Thanks, man. I've been through that boat more times than I want to remember ... great ride, no payments! Check out http://the2001.com for specific info on them...
