Does anyone have any experience using a roof-rack based board mount such as those available for snowboards?
Looking at the Yakima FatCat it looks like it may compress the core of a wakeboard too much, causing damage. Anyone have any experience?

Thanks in advance!!!

I can't remember what my rack is, not Thule, not yakima... damn it. anyway, its big enough to hold 4 snowboards and has a good bit of cushion on the clamps. I don't see why you couldn't stick a board in there. two may be tricky..

i'd pry pull the bindings if you're going any distance, but it should work fine.

Heard it could mess up the rocker... just buy a box instead.... covered & out of the UV rays...

Do you really not have ANY room in your car?

I used to use a barrecrafters snowboard rack when I had my mustang. It worked really well and it was about $60. I could put it on the car or take it off in about 2 minutes with a screwdriver, and it was a locking rack.

I use a yakima powderhound for my wakeboard but it's a slingshot so it's a little thinner. Works great.

I have a thule snowboard rack, and I've put my 06 premier up there once without the bindings when I had absolutely no room left in my car. It's a pretty beefy board, so I would think most others would fit. I don't think it would fit with the bindings anyway due to the spacing of the racks.

i dont think i would worry too much about messing up the rocker unless the rack is physically bending your board away from its natural shape...

I used a yakima powderhound rack and it worked fine. It will only hold one board in each rack though not two like a snowboard
