Hey Guys -

My buddy is thinking about pulling the trigger on an 06 X1 with the RTP 310hp engine. Do you guys think this is a big enough engine? I have the same hull with the Corvette which is a little bigger, so I don't know what to tell him.

He will probably want to weight his boat a good amount (around 2500 to 3000 lbs). Will the 310 be enough? Thanks!!!

with that weight, I'd go with the bigger motor

I run the same weight and it all has to do with prop and not engine size.

It should work. He will just have to prop down quite a bit.

^^^^running that weight your going to have to run a prop that will have that motor running close to 4k RPM's....if that's what he wants to do more power to him. Get the bigger motor and you can stay aroudn 3200-3300.

Will it be better with the MCX...absolutely.

Will it be ok with the RTP...absolutely. Just make sure you switch from the stock prop.

I have an 06 X1 and have loaded it up with the KGB ballast and an additional 1,000 lbs of lead. It was adequate in my opinion.

But of course you would never do that at LSL that would just be wrong

LOL!

If I did that on LSL, there would be 20 calls into water patrol in less than 30 seconds.

At what point do you guys go with a prop upgrade? Is it just when you have trouble getting on plane?

The 310 gets our X1 out of the hole no problem with about 2000. And switching the prop in the future will make it even more efficient since we spend 90% of the time between 21 and 25 mph.

awsome motor just change the prop like every one says.

Also have him call ACME and tell them what you have and how much weight and they will tell you the best options

RTP motor works just fine. I had a MCX in mine and had a buddy with a RTP. You could barely tell the difference at ride speed. The MCX is more of a top end horsepower motor. The throttle bodie injected motors make great torque.

I agree that the 310 is enough. With the right prop it will handle 3000#s no problemo

We run a 2006 X-1 RTP-1 combo with about 2500 lbs of ballast, works perfect. I would upgrade the prop from the stock but even with the stock prop this motor is fine.

The tourque curve on the RTP and the MCX is almost identical and the 06' newer boats are a true multiport EFI as opposed to a throttle body injection.
