I got out on the water yesterday, 1st time this year. I was ridding a 143 trip, I just got a ronix one 146 and one bindings. I like how the bindings felt, but I was having a hard time edging with it. I could not cut out as far as I did with the trip. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. It may just take some time I guess.

I think it is just rust and a new board give it a few trips out.I bet you will be carving that thing up in no time.

was the rope shorter than normal? that would keep you from getting out wide.

I agree that it takes some time to get used to a new board, sometimes 3 sets or a little less or a little more. Plus, as said, it is the beginning of the season and we ALL need to break off a little rust

Also, you are riding two very different boards, which is not a bad thing, just another variable to get used to. The trip was a little smaller and is a CONTINUOUS rocker with 2.3 inches of rocker. the One is a THREE-STAGE rocker with 2.7 inches of rocker. The three-staged one is gona ride a little slower than the continuous trip, but it will also give you quite the pop!

Also the newer boots may have an effect. if you were riding really stiff boots before you might have been getting a bit more leverage, easier, than now... till you get used to it. the one boots are probably an average stiffness. not as stiff as the cells but not as soft as the relics.

Most importantly, don't worry too much. get out there and have fun. do some slayshes and surfing carves and surely things will get well oiled and start feeling smooth

Another thing might be the rolled edge on the Ronix, My ps3 has a rolled edge and the edge on my S4 is very defined and the S4 cooks on edge while the ps3 is a bit of a dog. Just a thought the rolled edge is quite a bit more forgiving but can rob speed.

Thanks for the advice. I will be hitting the river 3-4 times a week, so maybe it wont take to long.

I just started riding on a One as well. Have not decided if I like it. The rolled edge is definitely different. Thinking of giving something else a ride. I do have cells.

The One takes a while to get used to for sure. It probably took me 10 sets before I was feeling it. Give it time...

I ride the Covin and my brother rides the One. The One does seem slow in comparison. Give it a few more rides and you'll dig the One. My brother went from a Premier to the One so not the difference you'll see going from the trip (or in my case the Covin), but I have never met anyone that did not like the One after giving it a few rides.

ya because the covin(now viva) is like the ferrari of all boards or atleast the ronix line. my foot drags when i cut out toeside which results in a slower edge. that maybe your problem. thats kind of strange, because the 09 one has a completely new base and its alot faster than the 08, but ya give it time and you should have it down in no time! good luck

Wow!! Went out today, giving the Ronix one another try. I could not believe how good it rode. Sat. I could not get it to edge hard. Today I was ripping side to side no problem. This thing really launches me in the air to. Hard to believe what three trips out on the water will do on a new board.
