YEah, I think you'll be able to move better in a drysuit than a 7mm. When do you need it for, I have an Oneill drysuit, but its almost time to get back in the water here

Dude, a 7mm wetsuit....you wouldn't even be able to move your arms. You'd be like the little brother from Christmas Story. I'm in low 50 degree water all the time and a 4/3 is fine for that.

I moved to Eagan MN to go to school. What lakes do you ride on there, do you ever make trips to lake Okoboji?

Dude you use 7mm for Scuba diving in 50 degree water! You can barely move in them!

we usually go to wall lake by sioux falls which is only about 45 min. or we go to lake cochrane which is just over the boarder from canby cause my friends parents got a place up there...never been to okoboji but i heard it gets really crowded on the weekends, which would be the only time we could go out there

yeah, you will look like the Michelin Man in a 7 mil. I have a 5 mil. that I use when I dive the springs here in Fl. I've never tried riding in it because I can barely move in it.

so it seems that either a dry suit or a 4/3 is the way to go

so after talking to a few people and places im pretty much gonna go with either a 3mm or 5mm full body...water temp in the low 40's air in the low 50's it seems like 3 mm wouldn't quite be enough but i could be wrong any thoughts?

if you have 2 suits a shorty and a long one you can try both at the same time ......it all adds up. we've done it and it works great! a 4/3 is minimum....to survive.....if you want to be toasty warm thats another thing. 3 is no good! (Message edited by absoluteboarder on April 06, 2009)

I used a 7 full body for years. It is a little stiffer bit it isnt as bad as people make it seem. Of course it is no problem for me because I am so strong ;) I was never cold, it was great and I didnt need a life jacket because it floats so well.

The old style 7mm suits were stiff. The new Henderson Hyperstretch 7mm would be a piece of cake to board in. I have one for diving and it’s a 5mm on the arms, legs, and 7mm on the core. You need to try them out you’ll be amazed at how flexible they are.
