we checked into one and all I can say is expensive but I mean a rock chip in a brand new boat would suck...what to do?!

I could say "fugly", too. What about those big black horsehair things you see across the back of motorhomes? Also ugly, but probably cheaper and easier to remove / install.

I am looking for something like this also, but that thing is fugly. Are there any other products out there?

On my wifes' new car we had something called a clear bra installed on it. It is a really thin sheet of clear teflon. they put it on the front quarter of the hood, backs of the mirrors, and behind the door handles. You can't even tell its there. If I'm not mistaken I think I saw it in a magazine somewhere for boats. Find someone who puts it on cars and they should be able to hook you up.

You will probably know the teflon stuff is there in a year or so. It will yellow up on you. It can always be replaced though.

You could make your own with some screening. Just get the stuff that's designed to shade rather than just keep out bugs. You'll need the strength.

I have an F350 with offroad style tires and use this to protect the boat.

Very easy to put on and off since it just goes on with the reciever.

I was thinking about getting one of these...

Cross between the RV style and the mudflap link above...
( I'll agree on that one being fugly!)

just got done installing my boat buddy yesterday. it actually looks pretty good. that red in the picture looks kind of gaggy. it detaches with quick disconnects for storage. I'll try and snap some pics. I'm also going to get that 3-m clear put on the boat as well. it's just as expensive as the bow buddy. pretty cheap insurance to try and keep rocks away from the boat if you ask me.

I saw one from Towerbiminis.com that attached to your boat. It was like a car bra for the nose of your boat. Cris Foye had one on his SAN

you guys spend 60k on a boat then you need this pretty expensive but the rankin cover alone is $800 what is another $500 and have it done right. Bevan actually owns this boat and you probably seen this pic before but doesnt get any better than this.

took it to canvas shop and had it modified top of the line if you ask me.

I just built one last weekend. It works great, and all the parts cost less than $100, and you could do it cheaper. If you want to build one, send me an email, and I will send you some detailed pics. Or I will post some pics if I remember.

I have a friend here at work that can make you anything you want for your boat when it comes to canvas. He has his own shop at home and he use to make covers for several boat manufacturers. Now he is a lead engineer in our Trim Lab at Johnson Controls Inc in Plymouth Michigan. So he leads our auto interiors for our company. So if anyone is interested. Contact me through here or my posted email address. I will get you in touch with Phil. He has done several things for me now. And he does great work.
