I'm new to wakeboarding and I'm having a hard time getting up. I'm a bigger guy at 6'4 265 lbs. Can any of the bigger guys give my some tips? My wife and her friend get right up they are both small 5'4 115 lbs. Is it impossible for fat guys to ride or what?

Put more people in the bow and trim all the way down. Men tend to fight the boat, women relax and let it happen. Suck the board up to your butt, handle out some, RELAX, and let the boat pull you up. Also board position is important. Try to get it planning, which means it is going to be toes pointed towards the boat and you can slightly point the tip towards the boat using your lead foot. Commmon mistakes are being pulled out the front. Trying to stand up too soon. You can ride in the position you start in.

Once you get up three times you will always be able to get up and ride. It is about learning your body position. BTW I am a small guy LOL

Have Fun!

Similar size - no problem. Follow Peter's directions. RELAX. Get a bigger board - 142-147 cm. Take several seconds to get up - don't try to pop up like the squirts, take your time.

Also, depends on the boat and where your rope is attached. if you are going out on a smaller I/O and attaching the rope to the back of the boat, then the boat will struggle to get you up, esp when learning. if you go out on an inboard with a big v8 attached to a wakeboard tower you will get up easy.

Thanks guys. My boat is a Chaparral 220 so power is no problem. I don't have a tower yet but plan on getting one soon.

Pressure on the toes to get the board at the correct angle. Knees in close, let the boat pull you up on top of the board but keep the toeside edge angled up. Don't stand until your completely out of the water. Don't pull against the handle either.
