There's really no difference between the current-generation GC and Commander except for the Commander's third row and slightly larger interior and the styling. Personally, I think the GC gets uglier with every passing year but I realize that a lot of people think it looks pretty sweet. While Attila may be overly worried about the transmission (the GC has had some severe transmission problems in the past but those days are over), the transmission on a GC (and therefore probably a Commander) won't last forever. Take care of it and you'll probably get 150K out of it. Really take care of it and it'll probably last longer. Since the Commander is new, if you like the look and feel of the GC and can live with the slightly smaller interior space and lack of a 3rd row, you can probably get a better deal on the GC. Personally, unless either the new Wrangler or upcoming Patriot really impresses me (and manage to garner a decent tow rating), I'm going to wait a year or two and get a used Commander.
