do you have access to other companies' boards, or are you set on hyperlite? do local shops offer demo programs? if so, demo these boards;

blindside wolf
doubleup murphy
liquid force balance
liquid force substance
cwb absolute

disclaimer: i'm not saying hyperlite doesn't make good products. i'm merely suggesting to try other products, too

CWB Absolute is like a Premier just faster, more pop, better landings & extra special. If you like the Motive the Premier, Substance, Absolute, BS McKee, GB Gonzalez will be most similar. The Substance uses its speed to break up landings & the Absolute uses it's center spine to ease the landings.

I have to disagree between the premier and substance being similar. I found the TFD alot more akin to the substance. Premier was slower and had a longer release time, while the TFD was a bit quicker with an equivalent release.

But in saying that, each board rides a little different depending on your style.

Don't buy a board from someone's opinion. If you have access to a shop that demo's go that route. Last season I was in for a new board, rode board after board and decided with the 138 Substance. Ride it first then buy it becase if you buy it and don't like it, you might be stuck with that board. Good Luck and don't put all your thought into 1 company, look around and be open minded.

ya, never buy a board according to someone's opinion. Buy a board based on whose signature is on it. Get the Parks and you'll start doing double half-cab mobes.

Just another opinion: but when all else fails, the Absolute is always a good bet. I also ride the Substance.

Hey Chad,
If you can make it to Memphis, you can demo anything from Hyperlite and Liquid Force from Memphis Boat Center. Based on what you said so far, I would recommend a Premier, Era, or Substance. I haven't met many people who have tried the Substance and don't like it.

I have the same problem as Chad in my area. We have no access to demo boards or bindings. I bought my last two boards based on info from this discussion board. Now I need new bindings and do not have a place to even try some on now that Skilimited has closed its Ohio store. I have decided to buy the Nice RG1 bindings but I am not sure what size to buy (my foot size is 9-1/2).

I hear you sandman, i live in ne ohio and am wanting to buy a LF board and bindings, I dont know what size bindings either. Size 12 shoe, thinking omega/alpha in an XL.

I would be careful about buying LF bindings without trying them on. The sizing can be screwy on some of their bindings.

Chris, sounds like you are pretty ball park on the sizing. I've got a 10.5 and wear a large, but J-rod is right. The sizing can be a bit screwy. Good call on the Omega, though, that's a good everything board.

Does anyone know how the sizes for the RG1 bindings run? The large bindings are for 10 to 11-1/2, but I would be a little leery of buying a medium binding without trying them on. There is a boat show coming up in Niles, Ohio, hopefully a Nice vendor will be there.
