Think of it as jumping on a tramnpoline as far as timing, and pushing off. Can you do an ollie? You land on the trampoline and bend your knees as it flexs, as the trampoline begins to rebound, you stand tall to push off of the "pop" or rebound. If you were to push off before the trampoline had completely reached its high point, you wouldn't go anywhere, right? It's all timing. Your knees are slightly bent when you're edging in to the wake. As you come into the trough of the wake, you should bend your knees (or squat) slightly, and then push off at the top (just like the trampoline). If you miss the pop, you probably tried to push off too early. If you get tripped up, you're probably too late. The "stand tall" thing never worked for me. Try thinking of it as pushing off, or doing an ollie at the top of the wake.
