Why doesn’t wakeboarding get the recognition that Skateboarding, BMX, Freestyle MX and other extreme sports get?

Anyone, anywhere, with a little money can get started out on most of the other sports. Wakeboarding requires much more, access to water, a boat, plus alot of up-front money. People tend to follow sports that they can do themselves. I guess Freestyle MX is the exception, but those guys are awesome.
