I have purchased one and plan to use it, but am curious who else is using this device. It seems pretty simple and possibly high priced compared to many other RGB controllers out there such as HitLights Sound activated RGB controller. What justifies the price tag for it over the Hitlights version that can be purchased for $25 on Amazon? I would appreciate any input. Thanks all.

the hilihgts one works well. However it is IR and not RF so you need to mount the box where you can point the remote at the unit to control the functions. IR doesn't work well in sunlight. Also, it is not waterproof.
With the Wet Sounds box, you get RF remote so you don't need to point the remote at the unit, it works anywhere near the boat and the box is waterproof so less fear of moisture damaging the unit over time.

Tim,
Thanks for your reply. That makes sense and helps to justify the value. I reached out directly to you a few years back. You have always been great to work with and I love my WetSounds products. To list a few: Wetsounds Threesome of the Rev 10 and Rev410 series, Syn 2. Wetsounds ws-420. Those items are in boat. RZR has Wetsounds 650's and 808's. And the one I think most at Wetsounds would get a kick out of is the 650's that are in the Steam unit/shower in my home.
Again, Thanks for your help. If you have time would love to catch up on a phone call sometime.
Thanks GF

George,
Here is another consideration and value difference.
RBG controllers often have noise issues induced into the audio system on certain color bandwidths. An Amazon purchase may not come with any worthwhile technical assistance. Where as a Wetsounds purchase definitely will.

Dave,
As always thanks for your input. You always add valuable advice. Quick question, besides interference does adding rings in between the speaker and the mounting surface have any impact on quality of sound? Are there concerns with getting a proper front to back seal of the speaker that would cause the speaker to not produce quality sound? Thanks GF

As long as the ring I.D. is the correct size as to not reduce the cone surface area into the coaming cavity then spacing the speaker out by a minimal 1/2" has zero impact.
Given that the speaker rim, light ring and boat mounting surface should all be flat, the speaker should seal to the ring as normal and the ring should seal to the boat surface as normal. The longer screws should freely pass-through all surfaces and tap only into the boat surface. The only way you would have a gap and wouldn't have a seal is if you screw it up in the execution by threaded through two layers.

What are the specs on the rgb controller? All I can find on the Wetsounds site is a picture and price.

Does anyone have a video of this thing in action? I've been trying to figure out what I am going to do for my new boat. Probably use the wetsounds grills, but curious what this controller is capable of. I haven't seen any videos that really showcases this unit.

Thanks Dave, I appreciate it. Does it have any other functions? are there multiple channels or is everything doing the same thing at the same time? Where can I find more specs and what this thing is capable of?

If you want the RGB to do multiple things separately you need multiple RGB controllers. Example you can hook in-boat speakers to 1 RGB and tower to another. Then you can have them do different things, or 1 off and 1 on.

This uses the same remote as the Wetsounds controller, specs look the same and is only $14 shipped:

I have two controllers in my boat for different functions. But you can get one controller with multiple channels to do different things. Right now I have an oznium controller that has multiple channels and allows the towers to flash at separate times, to music, etc. while I'm sure this is a nice unit, definitely paying for the name on the box for the price for what it can do.

Literally the exact same, down to the specs sheet. Guess I spent $60 too much, but it works well so that's the main thing I was looking for.
