Who makes a light inboard boat. Brother is looking for a boat around 2500 or less pounds, because he has a lift rated at that. I thought that malibu was making a 18' boat to compete with the searay's,bayliner, and glastron's. He's not using the boat to wakeboard he's a skier so wake size is not an issue. Any idea's.....Thanks.
most boat lift ratings give quite a bit of safety factor... we had a 2500lb lift, held a 3100 lb boat fine for 3 years, just had to get a new cable.... the cable we used was from Ace hardware, 1200lb max, not for lifting or hoisting.
Any of those really lightweight boats are lightweight for a reason..... because they have nothing in them. Upholstery is slim, very little seating or storage, no ballast, small windshield, etc.
Anybody else think the priorities are a little screwed up here? Your brother should buy the boat he wants, and then find a suitable lift. He could probably sell the one he has and then find a higher capacity one on craigslist for the same amount of money.
And to answer your original question, just about any standard 20 foot inboard is going to be around 2500lbs. I know my Sanger DXII comes in just under that.
I have to agree, that my brothers priorities are screwed up. I tried telling him to buy the boat he wants. He wants a new one for 20000 to 25000, and I told him to buy a used boat for that kind of money and he would have the boat he wants. He loves our vlx, and I told him we bought it used.
