saltwater

just wondering how easy it is to get an inboard into saltwater, with a fair bit of chop does it make it a lot harder and possible to damage when pulling it out of the water

In my area anyway, most ramps will give you good shielding from the wind and chop. The biggest problem is watching for the yachts if the ramp is directly into the intercoastal. Yacht wakes can make the boat ramp a bit of a pain. But as far as wind/chop goes, I haven't noticed a real difference between the salt and fresh ramps that I've used.

We ride in the salt all the time, too much of a mission to get to a lake every week. It's just like any other ramp really depends on the conditions. Our ramp sometimes has a cross wind which makes it hard to get the boat on the trailer straight (and the oysters suck when they get ya) but other than that it's pretty much the same.

what do the oysters do?

andy, they can do two things. if your boats sitting in the same place for an hour or two theirs a chance they could hook on to the bottom, or they are on the ramp and since they stick up they will scratch and put gashes in your boat.
