I have a 2007 Malibu Wakesetter 23 LSV. Never had a problem with this at all until yesterday. We are finished riding and coming in for the day so I hit all of my ballast drain swithces. Everything is working fine except for my mid tank. I look at the switch and the light is off. It has thrown the breaker (one of the many located under the throttle panel next to the driver). I reset the breaker and hit the swith again. About 10 seconds later boom, breaker pops again. I tried turning everything else off etc. No luck, keeps throwing breaker. I'm guessing a loose wire somewhere but I was wondering if anyone has had this happen before or can you give me some tips on where to start looking.

I have had this issue when the pump is plugged with something and over amping, you should be able to take the impeller out and clean it.

Exactly what Moto said........... you probably sucked up something into the pump

had same problem last year too. Pulled the pump and it looked fine. Reinstalled and it did the same thing. Replaced it with an attwood 800 pump (Walmart's finest) and it has been working great.

ok thanks. That will be my next step.

yes this is a stupid question but...it's my middle tank that has the problem and i access that from that hatch next to the driver's seat right? I guess when I look at it it's designed to be able to pull apart and check (an therefore should be pretty self explanatory) .

I had the same issue on my 04 and my fix was the same as Shawndoggy...wasn't long after that the other pumps started to fail, so I replaced all of them.

I'm hoping it's just clogged. Only 260 hours on the boat, should the pumps be failing that fast?

I have an 06 and had one of mine doing the same thing. The impeller in the pump was locked up causing the fuse breaker to pop. Replaced under warranty.

The aerator pumps will last quite a long time assuming nothing gets sucked up into the impeller system. There is no strainer to remove debris being sucked in from the bottom thru-hull. Depending on your water conditions (sandy, merky, mossy, etc..) could affect the longevity of the pump.

The Piranha 800's are simple to replace, remove one phillips screw on top of pump and unscrew pump unit and replace with a new one. Takes about 5 minutes tops.
