These are some of the best video editing software programs you can buy today.

Numbskull has a lot of $$$$ wrapped up in equipment because he's buisness based. So be prepared to spend some serious dough though.

The other maybe better option for you is to try finding some older versions of these. they are cheaper, but for just editing for your own personal enjoyment these will work just fine, and the videos turn out farily(spl?) decent.

for a hundred bucks, you can get adobe premiere elements. it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of premiere pro, but it'll do the job.

im sure numbskull uses avid, FCP, vegas, or premiere to cut there video. you can pretty much make good videos with any prosumer level software. another thing is, not only do they use just a video editing program like FCP or whatever, but an animating program is a very good tool to get familiar with... like adobe after effects... and i know theres some others out there. not only that but a good photo editing software is good to like adobe photoshop... when it all comes down to it, its preference really. you could make the same basic cuts with any of these programs, its just there GUI and extra effects and and all that jazz that makes them different.

is there anywere u can get a free download or trial of these so i could mess with it before buyin one.

so u say they use photoshops and ect. to make a video and they use programs other then video animating to make a video

No. your all confused.

Photoshop allows the user to edit, crop, ect. pictures.

To make a video you need to film something, send it to your computer(via "firewire", edit it(with video editing software-FCP ect.), encode it, then if you want to make a dvd, then there's more software(Studio tools,DVDIT, ect) you create menus and sub-menus. presto-you've made a personal movie to dvd.

Feature movies are like this but MASSIVE more things are needed. It goes like this-Pre-Production, Production, Post-Production(and within each of these there is hundreds of different things that go into making the movie). I'm not saying you can't achieve this but do you have millions of dollars to spend.

Animation is simular but different. Animation software(MAYA,SOFTIMAGE,ect.VERY EXPENSIVE!!) is used to create like Shrek Animated characters. Only lisenced people/companies usually own this software. In fact to render it out the only on there is that hollywood uses is Pixars Renderman.

Yes, you can download free trials off of there websites or go to local stores and get cheaper older versions.

But that's how it goes. hope this helps.

btw just a little FYI theres modeling programs (that create objects, and characters and all that like shrek) then theres animating programs. animating programs are basically putting the objects into motion using keyframes.

natxbrotha is right about the animation.

Examples:

Alias: Maya, is for creating hand-drawn animated(cartoonish)objects/characters to come to life.

Apple: Motion(graphics), Shake(effects)they bring your video you shot with Film or DV to life with motion/animated(non-cartoonish).

I would check out the FREE version of Avid (this would be a perfect transition from your programs to a more "professional" editing application):

Which ever product you decide to go with make sure to find a supporting forum for it.
Adobe has an awesome support forum here: http://www.adobe.com/support/forums/main.html
Creative Cow also has a bunch of good forums: http://www.creativecow.net/

I know, I was kidding. You always see the people who love one program and even if it wont work for you, they'll still try to recommend that "awesome" program for you.

hey justin, any program that comes on your computer isn't worth using. If you want a good program for free try downloading premiere pro for free from Kazaa. It's hard to download music nowdays but software is still ok

What are the specs on your computer? You should have at least a P4 and 512MB of RAM, 1GB would be better...
