Went to load the boat up last night and the boat buddy didn't work quite right. The pin snapped through as it was suppose to, but it didn't snap into the opposite hole. It missed and is actually too far back (toward the boat, not the truck). I'm thinking the only way this could happen is if the pin was bent? I don't see anything that can be adjusted to compensate for this? Any ideas? Also, without doing any searching, anyone have an estimate how much a new boat buddy is if I needed one? Thanks.

You know these things are nice when they work, but it seems you easily mess these thing up. I had one that came with a messed up pin when I got the boat. Instead of pony up $75 I just went to my local K mart and got a roller for $8 and just lock it with the winch. Problem solved!

Anyone got a link to this "boat buddy?" I've never seen one?

Dave,

here it is. Nice Idea but you have to be careful with them.

My boat buddy has the same bent pin problem. If you figure out a cheap fix let me know and I'll do the same.

You can buy a new one.. or you can simply take it a part and put the pin in a vice and straighten it out. Not difficult. Pull assembly out of the plasctic mold. Then compress and remove spring. And there you go....

kyle, great idea, in fact I had planned on doing it. Only thing is I couldn't get it off with the boat on the trailer. I'd have to put the boat in, then take it off run back home and do it or something. Looks pretty simple to get off.

I think you can order parts for them.

My friend driving the truck hit reverse instead of drive to pull me out after locking in boat buddy and the damn thing bent. I'm not too happy.

Bob, floor jack and a block of wood will lift you off the bow stop. This is how I added forward bunks on my trailer.
