After four years now, the graphic on the side of my boat is starting to come up a little around the edges. Rather than buy a new graphic to replace it with, I was thinking about having the graphic painted on. Does anyone have any experience with having painted graphics? What are the pros and cons of doing so? Any suggestions of where to get it done in the Bay Area? Thanks.

Just clean the area where the graphic is starting to come up with some rubbing alcohol and apply a little super glue to it. It will be as good as new.

To paint a boat for just a graphic is prolly not worth it. you have to have professionals do it that know how to work the gel coat. do what adam said...

I think painted on graphics are pretty cool, I'm going to get some custom done on my boat. What exactly will be a secret until they are done, but they will look sick. It will just be the painted graphics and some small airboard decals, so it should look very clean and awesome.

Thanks for the advice so far. I'm pretty convinced that I do want to get my graphic painted on.
I have seen some people who have painted the "Air" on their Nautiques. I was hoping to do that sort of thing (obviously I am not going to put the Air logo on my Centurion though).

I don't know, although the XLV does look clean, I like the decals. To each his own!!

The only problem I have seen with painted on graphics is that they look great at first, but if you ever get a scratch or nick in them, then they don't look so hot. We have quite a few boats come thru here with painted registration numbers on the front of the boat, and many of them are scratched or smeared from a boat bumper hanging over the side of the boat or what not.

If you do get them painted, don't let them get scratched or smeared!

This boat is owned and designed by The Southtown Riders. I just thought it was a very original idea. You should see it coming towards you on the lake.
