I just bought a new OJ 310 for my Supra DD launch. I have no vibration in forward, but when I when I move to reverse and only a low rpm, I get some vibration, higher rpm's in reverse, it goes away. Any ideas? Should I send the prop back for a check?

Funny that you posted this topic today. I also just installed a new OJ prop on my Supra 21v, and now I also notice a weird vibration. Mine is not in reverse, but when I am just barely above idle. One I get to faster speeds it seems to go away, but then slowing back down it comes back…I also don’t know what to do…

shaft could be out of alignment? were you thumpin' on the propshaft to get previous prop to come off? without a prop puller, or when things get stuck, we see a lot of people pounding the prop off of the shaft.. could also be that if you changed size and pitch of prop, it is unfamiliar to you and you are noticing new vibrations, that are common. and lastly, the new prop could be bad, or have some bends in the blades from handling.. so many different possibilities..

My 21V has done this a little from day 1 but only when it's weighted heavy. I was thinking that some vibration is common and havn't worried about it too much. Should I be?

The prop is likely riding on the key. Pull off the prop and keep the key aft about 1/8"

Karl, what do you mean by aft by 1/8"? Push the key under the prop by 1/8" or sticking out from under by 1/8"? Manfox, No thumping on the prop shaft here. I have a prop puller that pulled my other off without a problem. I did change pitch, but I can't see how that would cause vibration, unless like stated, the prop is damaged. I always thought prop vibration is bad

put an OJ on my centurion and had vibration, took it off and put on an ACME and fixed the problem, could also be the pitch, sometimes the wrong pitch will cause the boat to cavitate thus making a vibration. check with the dealer to see what pitch or pitch's they recomend.

Could be a bad prop. It happens - bad balance, etc. Try another prop. The comp prop is the Acme 911. Karl

If the prop is cupped real heavy it will cavitate in reverse

It's cupped .09. I haven't pulled it off the shaft yet. I'll give it a try this weekend. If it still has vibration, I'll return it for a different prop.
