Just picked up the O'Neill Boost dry suit. I think I am going to like it. For those that use a dry suit, do you wear your vest under it or go without a vest? There is enough buoyancy without wearing something underneath?

I wear a vest underneath to avoid rib-damage, not for buoyancy. The drysuit will provide enough "lift" without a vest.

i have a boost and we all rock it with our vest under it.

I also wear a Jet Pilot A-10 with my O'Neill Boost. I got stopped once by the water cops who gave me a tongue lashing -- but not a ticket -- since the vest was not CGA approved.

Always with a vest.

I always ride without a vest. Usually vent a bit of the air out and float just perfect. I've never crashed and had the air come out of the suit.

I have a boost but do NOT use the life jacket with it... it is about 400% more floaty than the life jacket, seems redundant

What if you take a gnarly fall, get knocked out and get a rip in your drysuit? What buoyancy do you have then?

Always wear a vest...mine is under.

i've gone sans vest under my Boost for years, but the past two seasons started wearing one. I figure it'd be my luck I'll have a killer spill in 40 degree water, the suit will tear or fill and I'll be SOL. That, plus water po-po have started to keep an eye on people taking their drysuits off around here.

That being said, you can keep as much air locked in the suit as you'd like which will provide PLENTY of buoyancy without a vest.

We have always ridden without a vest under a drysuit. Last spring I was ticketed for allowing an adult rider to ride without a vest. The officer said if it was a minor I could be charged with child endangerment. The owner of the boat is responsible for anyone who rides wearing proper safety equipment.
