it's going to be a month from my second attempt on a bamboo board.
needed to say that it was much more successful than the first time
and it didn't end up melting the board. bamboo is more of a grass than the wood,
so veneers can be made much thinner and while it's along the grain, it bends
easily around rails. the strength of the veneer must be equal at least to a layer
of 6 oz glass, because i still can't find any heel dents on the deck that is
2 oz e-glass + bamboo + 5 oz s-glass. it's a bit heavier then the glass,
but looks much better :-) the bottom is 5 oz. there are no hd foam or otherwise
reinforced rails, but i think it still can be called a timberflex board
(http://www2.swaylocks.com/node/1029134).
and probably the best thing about it is that it rides almost as i wished it did.
