I have a Cobalt 232 with the 7.4 Volvo Dou-Prop. Anyone know if they make Captains Call for that engine? I have seen it for the Merc but not for the Volvo, will the Merc one bolt up? Through the drive is great for tooling around or riding but through hull would be awesome for blasting through the gulf or the bays...

I put it on my 252, call the cobalt manufacture and then they will give you the part number for Corsa exhaust systems. Total cost was about $1500 installed...

Why would you want a loud boat? Captains call doesn't make it go any faster. You should be able to get it factory. All it does is raises the exaust above the water line, so I wouldn't think it would matter what engine it is.

They are not go fast boats. I would rather keep mine quiet, and blow by the guys with their exausts above the waterline.

I did see on the cobalt website that they have a captains call exhaust hp, so maybe they do have something that will add ponies. I just can't justify spending the 8k they want to make my boat loud. They should pay me for that. Advertising damit! (Message edited by psudy on June 07, 2007)

8 g's is way to expensive, 1500 doesn't sound too bad. Paul, when were riding or cursing the harbor quite is good, when I'm out in the gulf or hauling ass threw the bay loud is good... Big blocks sound good with through hull. And no it's not a go fast but I don't care... Nice thing about captains call is if you get sick of loud hit the switch and you got quite... BTW - Good call Joe, I'll check with Cobalt, I forget it was an option...

It was 8gs because my 292 has twins. Out of curiosity, how fast does your boat go aaron? The 7.4 is a pretty large engine in a 23ft boat.

about 70 on the trailer Really about 52 is all I can get out of it at 4400 RPM's. It's got the dou-prop set up on it which I think might be limiting it, however it jumps out of the hole just as fast as any v-drive I have been in. I would really get to get about 10 more mph's out of it but I really don't want to give up my hole shot since we do ride behind it a lot... If anyone has any ideas how I can get that without spending a ton of dough I'm all ears...

"without spending a ton of dough" If you can find anything that involes boating that doesn't cost a ton of dough, I am all ears! I doubt the dou-prop is limiting you. I believe they were designed to help speed. I am suprised at the 52mph top end though. I had mine at 65, with one person and about a quarter tank of gas. It will usually run about 60 with a full tank and 10 peps, which surprised me as well. I thought I would loose more than 5mph with the extra 100 gallons of gas.

What engines did you have and what RPM's were you truning? It seems like 4400 is low... My Brother-in-Law had twin 454 Mag's in his 29 Baja and he said he got like 5200 or 5400 out of them. Granted they are Mags and had Brovo 1's on them... I was kind of expecting more speed myself when I bought it.

I have twin 5.7s. I have never looked at the RPM gauge. Next time I go down there I will check. 4400 does seem low though.
