I'am new to surfing and have a chance to get a used phase 5 prop. Is this board o.k. for everyone on the boat from first timers to beginners to intermediate riders. We are just looking to have fun with it, not too serious. thank's!

I ride a Phase 5 prop and love it! I learned on a Hyperlite Landlock though. The Prop is much more responsive than the bigger boards. I wouldn't say it's the best board to learn on but once you know how to ride it is a lot of fun. The Prop requires a fair sized wake since it is so small. I have a Sanger V210 with ballast and it works great. Good luck!

this is a really, really hard board to start off since this is a very slippery skim style board.. it doesnt allow for any fin adjustment. it also hard to find your feat on (the walzer is a much better skim style board imo)..

i would suggest a fish style board or a hyperlite broadcast..

How far are you looking to progress on the board?

If you are looking for a beginner board be sure to look for as rounded (or blunt) of a tail as possible. The sharper the tail the more responsive and squirrely the board will be. Fishes take this to the extreme by having 2 tails making it a lot easier to get "on rail". While this makes for a looser board capable of a much tighter turn radius it also makes the board it a lot harder to control.
