From what I've heard, Lowrance is more marine oriented then the Garmin or Magellan.

Arron, Any pics of the unit mounted in the dash? Is it actually set in the dash or fixed using the mount pictured above?

Anyone else have pics of in-dash mounted GPS?

Magellan and Garmin are the best made. Beyond that pick the one with features you want. Go to the nearest Bass Pro, they have a bunch of both to look at.

Jeff, it is actually mounted in the dash... I'll see if I can dig up a picture.

I use Garmin 378 GPS. It's portable and has 2 modes - Auto and Marine. I can use it for car navigation also. Software and waypoints are pre-installed. Its Great.

Bit Pricey if buying from Retail. Always check eBay for deals.

I got the Garmin 60 Cx, great on the road, ATV or baoting as you can get road maps, terrian, r even water maps!!

Quick, easy to use and extremely portable.

"Considered the mainstay among serious outdoor enthusiasts, the GPSMAP 60Cx and GPSMAP 60CSx offer a large color TFT display and turn-by-turn routing capability. Each unit comes with a blank 64 MB microSD card. Owners of these new x-series handhelds can also purchase new microSD cards that are pre-loaded with MapSource® Topo and inland lake maps, BlueChart® marine cartography, and City Navigator™ street maps"

PDA's work great as GPS's. Garmin's Ique or whatever is decent for mapping. The software is what is important, along with how often it is updated. That is assuming you also want it for road travel. Otherwise buy the cheapest crap you can, as they will all tell you coordinates and leave a bread crumb trail.
