i saw a picture not too long ago of someones mastercraft that had these blue LED's that matched his gelcoat (they looked so sick), so it got me stoked enough to want to go get some for myself. any pics, advice or words of wisdom would be awsome. thanks!

I have 18 of the 4 led light modules under my swim platform. Haven't had a chance to take any pictures yet though. http://www.superbrightleds.com/mini_tubes.htm

i did it myself..I will have to look up the company but the swim deck has 4 LED pod's that are waterproof. When you order them you all them how many pod you want and they come already in a string. I spent about 30-40 bucks for all the lights under the swim deck. inside the boat is a hyperLED under car kit and 2 single LED's in every cup holder and 1 behind each speaker grill

I replaced the existing courtesy lights with blue LEDs, very little wiring is necessary for my boat.

I had an open acc switch on the dash, so I connected the power wire to that. Then I ran a ground wire along with it all the way around the boat. Very easy. Used some wire taps to connect the lights to it. The hardest part for me was securing the lights to the boat. I ended up using some kind of glue, which seems to be holding up great. Obviously you'd have to do something cleaner if the light pods were somewhere visible.

Someone beat me to it with the green! I did the lime green LEDs because I've got lime green in my gelcoat. Here's the main cabin. The subwoofer. The boat.

Drilled 2 small holes in the transom and put SS bolts through with plenty of silicone. You can also use any 2 bolts that are through mounted if that's an option for you. Just put a terminal end through it and reinstall. Not really too tough.

I used Grants idea of attaching the positive to one side of the swim platform and negative to the other. That way the platform comes off without having to disconnect anything. Works great

I didn't have access to the bolts in the hull that the swim platform comes through on so I connected mine to the 2 tow loops just above the swim platform. I didn't want to drill any holes through the hull. Both sides have a 2 pin flat connecter so it can come apart. one side is positive the other is negative. I then just ran from the trunk up to my switch.

These boats are well done, Tim's still blows me away. The wrap, the LED's, the system overall a great boat. Is it a company vehicle/tax writeoff?

^^^Holy Crap Ben! What do you have powering that boat, plutonium?! Maybe I missed the thread on your boat, but do you have specs of it? It looks beyond outrageous..... it looks like it would shake the engine apart.

Probably a show boat and runs on 110v or for a short time on the bats. Nice looking install would do a couple of things a little different but "to each his own". Nice looking boat Tim and great tax write-off.

I would go so far as to say that Tim's boat is DEFINATELY not just a "show boat".

Mikeski-- What all LEDs does the boat on the right have of the "legal" pic? Looks amazing! I'm assuming the process involved is more time consuming then cost constraining, correct?

Nope not a show boat. Use it every weekend. Yes, It is also used at shows also, was at CES in Vegas etc...So some of the things on the system were designed for show. Like the inverted subs to show off the magnets etc.. There are 8 batteries total. 6 Kinetiks just for the stereo. It can play all day without having to start the boat. We were just at Devils Cove on Lake Travis on Mem Day. Played for 7 hours at max volume. Never started the boat. Has a custom surf ballast system in it. A custom swim platform so it doesn't mess with the surf wave. Shots of me and my wife riding. Tim Wet Sounds (Message edited by wetsounds1 on June 06, 2008)

What is illegal? The blue color or the tower lighting? I actually went w/ green because I read somewhere red is illegal since the Po-Po run red & blue they don't want competition. Ben Terry- The pics of the 2 Super-Pimpy boats are farmed out to installers and they are VERY,VERY expensive to get that set-up. All of my boat (swim platform, storage compartments, amp racks, power switches, sub ring, speakers, ice chest, cupholders....) was done from indiviual leds and a whole @$$ load of soldering. I started in November and I finished my Pro80s last night. Total cost is around $500 for all of it. That's not too cost-prohibitive for most people. I have ADD in a nonsensical way, so if I don't have a project to do I go nuts. It was fun--but holy-cow did it take a lot of time!!!

Jason, Thanks for the post. I can soldier, and my buddy who is an elec. engineer, can fill in the gaps where I lack the knowledge. Of course what we are talking about is time, and that is something I don't like to give up in the summer, so it looks like this will be winter project 08. Thanks again for the info!
