Been at home for a few hours now. Doc had to repair both medial and lateral meniscus on top of the ACL reconstruction, so instead of 10 days with crutches its prolly more like 3 weeks :-( Other than that, everything went well and I'm as stoned as a hippie at a Widespread concert ;)

Enjoy shredding this weekend and remember, you could be in my shoes, so ride hard and enjoy it since your not!!!

Dude, healing vibes. Knee surgery sucks.
You planning on doing physical therapy?

They did a femoral block so I was feeling good day one... hence the smile. Not so happy now... although I would rate the pain as only a 4 or 5, actually not that unbearable. I haven't even touched the Oxy they gave me, just been taking the other, lighter pain meds every 6 hours.

How long are you stuck in the brace for?

My surgeons program was 6 weeks of brace with adjustments every two weeks for the range of motion. No physio until after the brace came off too.

Jeffrey - I had PT 3 days post-op. We did about 6 exercises... stuff like leg lifts and some nominal bending. I was able to get to 75 degrees unassisted which she thought was good. Because of the Meniscal(sp) repair, I cant pass 90 for a while. I'm going 3 times a week for the next couple of weeks.

I was supposed to stay immobilized for like 10 days or something, but after PT... its kinda hard to convince me I need to stay in this brace after all the moving they had me do. I drove to work and I'm sitting at my desk at work without it as we speak.

Which procedure did you have?

I'm with you on the pain, it was sore but not so bad. Be really careful you don't tap that knee cap though! It put me on my face a few times in the first year just tapping the cap on something hard.

Cadaver...hamstring allograph

One screw at the base and two pins at the top. Honestly, today has been the first day of any pain... I'm fully off the pain meds and had a pretty intense day of PT yesterday. We did active extension stuff and it SUCKED. All for the love of the game... only 5.99 more months to go ;)

Nice, sounds like you are doing good, 1 week down!

Those pictures sure do bring back recent painful memories.

As you're recoverying make sure to stretch that hammy out. That's the one area of recovery I wish that I had put more emphasis on. It's not as bad as it used to be but I still occasionally have problems with that hamstring tightening up.

Glad to hear you're doing relatively well! Keep it up and hang in there!

I partially tore my MCL wake skating the other day. Hopefully the physical therapy will help a lot and i dont need surgery!

I did a partial MCL, medial meniscal tear, and bone contusion last season and just stayed off the water for 3 or 4 weeks and was good to go. You should be fine homie!

Been there done that.

I had a patella graph and a few other things. I was on crutches for 5ish weeks.

small HS w2w 180. I landed it fine and a second later...snap.

the mental block has set my riding back to beginner levels, i'm hoping to change that this year.

Hang in and do your physio!
