I know there has been all kinds of threads on this board but I have ridden it twice now and as soon as the rust comes off I think this will be the best board I have ever ridden. It is super fast, good pop, lands nicely, super loose until your on edge then it edges beatifully up the wake without breaking loose at all. Like butter. Just thought I would throw that out there.

I would love to try one of these bad boys out (the 146 for sure) but does anyone know of anywhere that I can get one for less than $700. I'm willing to pay, but good lord thats a lot of money for a wakeboard

I was thinking the same thing Adam, what makes this board cost that much more than most boards.

Its a new construction thats basically a PVC compression. There are also other high end materials as well. youre paying for the technology and R&D that go into all of your boards. These companies spend countless hours shaping, testing, and experimenting to give consumers the best products. Its funny how everyone throws this board under the bus about price, but never mentions the new GATOR pro model which is $800 or the FLY series from LF as well as the new MONARCH from BYERLY, and the platinum series from CWB. Every company out there, every major company has comparable products that use a higher end of materials in their cores. the only difference is that HYPERLITE doesnt give you any other option with their D.I.N.E series shapes. But for more in depth information on the reasons for high cost check out the websites for all the companies. They usually have videos explaining all the litttle details your probably looking for. but the gist of it is that your paying for a better overall costructed board with better materials. Think of it like having the option of a camaro or a corvette......

I had heard rumors that they were going to try to do a different layup on the marek to make it more competitive. Maybe a standard core? or different material.

sometimes you can get that board for a lot less i was offered one for about 300 bucks at my local boat show because they missed with the drill for the fins the guy said you can fill it with fiberglass anyway but i went with a brand new Byerly legacy for a hundred bucks and Byerly boots for 150 but if you want a cheap marek try boat shows or dealer/pro shop sales

I NEED to get the 146. 6'7" 250. Here's my short list. I'll be picking up one of these this spring for sure. Marek 146 Faction 144 Transcend 142 Decade 144 I've been riding an old Parks 143 and would like something a little bit bigger that still pops aggresively and lands soft but is less of a tank in the water. Not a ton of options for us bigger dudes.... I can see myself spending 400-500 but 700 is too much.

im on the same boat as you andrew. Rode an 08 murray and loved it and rode a 143 3ds and hated it. I hear great things about the marek but I hear its similar to the 3ds.

I'm 6' and 180 lbs, I rode the 141 Marek yesterday and it is by far the best board I have been on. It was super responsive and got on edge really quick. Pop was great, landings were soft, and it edged really hard. It will be the board I ride this year unless I come across one that I like better, but I doubt that'll happen.

goride- I wouldn't say that the marek is similar to the 3ds. I guess the only thing that is similar is the fin placement but the way the board rides is nothing like the 3ds. I rode the 3ds on time and hated it. If the marek is in fact similar to the 3ds then I would say that it is the big big big brother on steroids and pcp. The board is way faster, lighter and pops way more and lands softer. PS- This is coming from a guy that typically hates a continuous rocker.

I second that statement from the great Callen. I HATED the 3ds and everything about it. The Marek feels nothing like it to me. Not sure of the make up, but it has a completely different feel and ride style.

I agree, it is an excellent board. I ride the 146 at 240 lbs and feel like it is the only large board out there worth riding. I came from the 3ds and I liked it, but this board blows the 3ds away.

I will third that the Marek isnt anything like the 3DS. This board is straight butter loose until edge toward the wake then it just holds all the way through with great pop and release. I am 6'2 240 and ride the 146. It definately doesnt feel like a146, partly because its so light. but its very adgile for a big board. Dont buy anything til you atleast ride it.
