if you are gonna have 3 13 W7s I would plan on having at LEAST 1000w going to each. I have heard one sealed with the JL1000/1 powering it in an A4 and it was loud as think if you fed it 1500 watts it would be even better. Talk about adding solid weight to a boat, thats gonna be like 400 lbs.

we were definately going to put at least a 1000 to each one, but we were curious if there were any other good amp picks besides the jl amp.

unclesame: we did consider the weight factor but the way we can tuck them away in the boat there would be two on the passanger side and one on the drivers. i think we could just move some people or add a little weight to balance it out

Look into Diamond audio. They have great prices and dam they Rock. They have True watt power not like most junk out there where they say 1000w and you may get 200w at the speakers. They are german made.

And I forgot they have a Life-time Warranty. The D6 amps have a 1000w and 1500w unit.

Look at Zapco, Elemental designs, Resonant engineering, alpine, boston acoustics, maybe orion. Look for something with a birth sheet so you know they are putting out said wattage.

A big vote for Elemental Designs. One nine.1 would rock a 13w7 hard. My nine.1 benched at over 1600 RMS @ 1ohm. $350, three year warranty.

you can "stack" two of them together and get over 2500 watts @ohms

You'll want more than 1000 watts to each. How about running all three in series/parallel to a Rockford T40001bd at 1 ohm.

What are your plans to power these amps? 1500 watts each is 4500 watts. -- that's some serious power.

Assuming you won't be able to completely blast the stereo, Lets say your actually delivering 2000 total watts, if the amp is 75% efficient that's about 2700 watts of consumption. or 225 amps. You'll need some big alternators and some serious deep cycle batteries to sustain any kind of prolonged stereo play time.

I will second that the diamond stuff is really nice and that is what I am running in my car but they are not German, they are made in arizona which is probaly better for warranty problems. Their lifetime warranty is only if you buy it and have it installed by an authorized dealer. I have the 1500.1 D6 and it rocks. They are underrated amps so the 1500 pushes closer to 1850 and the 1000 is probaly abour 1200 watts. It is nice too because their D61000.1 is a lot smaller than the JL 1000/1. I would not hesitate in reccomending them but there are a ton of good amps out there.

And yes with all that power and such you will probaly need a few batterys and I would even consider a new h/o alternator or even a dual alternator setup.

Check out elitecaraudio.com, caraudio.com they both have pretty good forums where you can get some help.

Problem with the D6 amps is they don't push enough power at 3 ohms for each 13W7. The 13W7s are dual 1.5 ohm voice coils. If you wire them in parallel you'll be pushing 0.75 ohms which the Diamond amp is not stable at. So you're only option is in series which gives you 3 ohms where the D61500.1 will be pushing somewhere between 500-750 watts. Not nearly enough for a 13W7.

You wouldnt wires them in series or paralell though. You would amp each sub individually. so the D6 would be at 1.5 ohms which is fine and then would probaly be making true power since they are underrated.

http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=161 How would you wire a single 13W7 to see a 1.5 ohm load? I can only see getting a 3 ohm or 0.75 ohm load with a single sub.

well the batteries we do have, 8 yellow tops. we have the zero gague all through the boat already. as for charging we have a 120amp which i kind of figured was right on the verge of barely enough or not enough. on a usual day we ride all day, stop at the beach for just a while and head in and charge all the batteries back up, so were not totally stuck on the alternator to keep the batteries full at all time
