I am pretty close on a boat that has no system, so I will be starting from scratch. I have been looking thru threads and am starting to get some understanding of the various components, but have no idea how you design a system, how much power, channels, bridged (don't know what this means), etc. Most of the product literature uses terminology I don't understand.

Anybody know of a website that kind of lays out the basics? I need to do some homework before I ask specific questions.

This will be a winter project so I have some time to get familiar. thanks

Rich,
If I were you, I'd spend a little time on finding out who in the area is best at doing boat installs. Bottom line (and this of course depends on what your objective is) if you want 4 car audio speakers in the boat and maybe a sub, OK, anything more than that and you'd be better off leaving it to people with experience!
Good luck!

Matt, exactly what I needed. thanks

Duane, I'm in a small town with only one car audio place. I plan on going to several shops when I travel but need the basics just to be able to ask decent questions. I'm going to start off with a very basic system, no tower speakers, but hopefully be expandable. Right now I'm thinking of it as a DIY project. When I get closer I will post specific questions.
