OK I need to know what the heck we did. My friend has a Malibu LSV. The batteries were dead. we hooked up the charger. worked on the boat for a while . The batteries had life again. when we turned on the stereo, there was no bass. The fuse was blown. Put in a a new fuse and everything was fine. When to the water this past weekend and the boat went into Limp mode. What the haeck. Do I need to take it to the dealer or is there something I can do myself?

Try disconnecting the batteries again, wait sevaral hours, and re-connect, sometimes this will reset the computer and take it out of limp mode.

The batteries did need water. My buddy is out of town. I am going to take it to the Malibu dealer in the morning. Why would something like this happen? Does the computer need power to keep functioning properly? Did a surge go through the system when we hooked up the charger? Oh I also forgot to mention, the Perko switch was on. It was never turned off.

Limp mode can be from several items, water flow, temperature, and oil pressure. Check your owners manual for complete list.

With these weird electrical issues, I would guess it may have blown the ECU.

just got word back from the dealer. the wedge cylinders went bad. when the boat accelerated, it was saying the wedge was down. we had the wedge up. they ordered new ones and should be here in a few days. what causes these to go bad?
