Mastercraft X-2 SS or Nautique 210 Coastal Edition

Ok guys, What do you think of these two boats and which one should i go with? I know the X-2 is more expensive in general but the dealer here tends to have aggressive pricing, if the price of the X-2 closer to the 210 what should I pick?

If you can find a used bigger MC SS that maybe a good choice, but X2 or 210, the 210

im surprised about the wake on 210 is better than X-2... I have never been behind the X-2 nor the new 210( only old 210 i think it is a 2000 version???) for mastercraft only X-Star x5 x7 and loaded X-1 yesterday which has quite amazing wake shot me up much higher than I ever did!

nautique guy here but the X2 is a great machine too. I think it comes down to two thing here : resale value (in HK?) and which dealership is the friendliest/closest to you. the coastal edition is pretty sweet though!!

Both boats are great boats in the freshwater application. I would research the salt pkg
on the CC thoroughly.

The Coastal Series has a steering cable vs. hydraulic in the MC.

Resale over here isnt great here there isnt a market for it same for cars...so resale isnt a factor

HK is small so there isnt a distance problem, but Nautique is a proper Yacht dealer and Mastercraft dealer is a Yacht driving school/ski school... Theres more Mastercraft here due to aggressive pricing and everyone buys it from them after they got their Yacht License(You need a Yacht license to drive any speed boat thats 4hp+ and that includes PWC)

Do you have any first hand experience with Coastal edition? There isnt one over here yet, the dealer knows nothing about it... can you tell me more about the advantage?

I'm an MC guy but the Crusader motors that CC is running are legit. The original MC SS boats ran the traditional Crusader blue engines, we never saw any in action here in MN as we are totally landlocked but I checked them out when we were down in FL and sat in one of there presentations.

Working for a dealer I can tell you I'd recommend the dealer with the best service dept. You may not need it often but when you do its worth having.

My vote would go to the 210. However, I think MC probably has an upper hand in dealing with saltwater durability. Never been impressed with the modern X2 wake making abilities, in the same breath I've never been behind the new 210 so you should probably just ignore my post because its all based on speculation.

If rough water is an issue, The X2 will do better in that regard. I compared the fresh water versions in thread called "7 Demos later..."

Thanks Dave! Rough water is an issue since we are using it on few different bays very choppy due to many other wakeboard boats on weekends or unfavorable wind blowing half the time...

I will have a chance to look at the X-2 next week, will see what happens I have yet to find a 210 to look at but have looked at a 211 and 230 both 2 years old parked next to the dealer to get an idea of Nautiques build quality...I think the only thing I don't really like is the much lower quality seats stiching and material than mastercraft, the seats are not much better from my Moomba.

For rougher water you should be looking at the X15 or X30 at least. I have the Xstar and would not to take that on rough water. Don’t get me wrong, it rides nice when you’re cursing, but when your not the waves or rollers can come over the front pretty easy. The pickle fork design sits to low in the water for rougher water. Your going to want a deeper V in the front.

I use to have an older X30 and we would take it to the Keys in FL every year. I had a snap cover on the front and left it on do to the waves, or spray, crashing over the front. It did a nice job for the rougher water.

So why don't you just keep throwing the cuss words and expletives out there and your XStar will have no problem handling the waves and rollers.

I am surprised by your comment on the vinyl and stitching of a Nautique. I have owned Moomba's and Supra's in the past and would never say that their seats were *better* than the Nautiques.

About the seats dont get me wrong they are much more comfortable to sit on in the Nautiques(I guess they use much thicker foam), but from what I see the Vinyl and Stitching that Nautiques use is not much better than Moomba...well i was also looking at a 2 year old Nautique, it also have those black spots all over it just like my moomba... So far I think Mastercraft has far better seats.

I've had a mastercraft x2 for a little over 3 yrs and my vinyl is falling apart. I don't think its that the mastercraft vinyl is any better its all a matter of maintenance. Get ready because the saltwater use will destroy your vinyl. The problem is that due to the salt the boat needs to be hosed down and is never 100% dry so if you cover it you get mildew and if you don't the sun kills it. My recommendation, a csx, probably the only wakeboarding boat that won't be annoying in salt.

yeah, if I was going salt I would get a CSX as well.

I don't have a clue which have the best saltwater boat. I think they both will show there saltwater lives eventually. But I also want to question the vinyl and stitching remark and the wave/rollers comment.

I have been riding 210 and X2's on the same day with the same water and the 210 rides much smoother! The difference is very noticeble. Also the 210 stays much more dry inside the boat the the X2.

My opinion about the stitching is that CC is really much better then all MC's I've been into. Don't get me wrong, MC built a first class boat. But I think CC wins on the engine and vinyl part!

We are right here on the coast in the tampa bay area with our dealership, based on what we see and work on the CC has a better hull and tower, power plants are equal with proper maintenace, uplostery hands down Mastercraft holds up better, neither one switches or guages hold up very good,in salt conditions, and both have a poor ride quality in rough water as compared to other brands in the same size .

Finally, I was just in a Mastercraft X-2 SS I was amazed by their interior quality and space! I'm wondering does the Nautique 210 come close to that in terms of seating space and seat comfortableness?

Depends on who you ask, I would take a 210 over a X-2 all day everyday, but I am a little bias.

Better wake IMO.
Handles way better IMO.
Resale is better as well.

Yea Im leaning towards the 210 myself due to pricing... I wont know how it handles or hows the wake until the boat is here...

Now I just need to pick out options and start discuss pricing with dealers.

The question about which is better for salt conditions would def be the X2 SS. MasterCraft Salt series boats have better protection against the elements.

Right now there is about 250k HKD difference in price with similar equipped X2SS vs 210 Coastal Edition... Nautique being the cheaper one!
