Boat Bumpers??? smooth or with ridges...ribs running lenthwise. Do the ribs really 'help eliminate roll'?

Seems that the sinple physics would say yes,but I have used both and have not noticed a difference. What really might make difference is a cover for the bumpers that won't rub the gel coat. I always have to buff out little scratces where the bumpers rubbed after each trip I take. I keep my boat on a lift though, so it is infrequent that I need bumpers. If you are going to use them a lot, that would be my main concern. Even if the bumper does not roll, you will still get bumper scars as the boat travels up down or side to side

That's actually another winter project of mine, I'm going to make microfiber covers for a set of my bumpers. Hopefully that will help with the scratches from rubbing.

I used these this past summer when tied up to a wide variety of docks and loved them. Really easy to store and they would slip on the dock or boat if they had too. The round ones would pop up sometimes. I didn't try tying up to another boat with them. I'm going to get a couple more.

We have been using hippity hops for a couple of years now. They hold up great. And they are softer rubber so they dont dull the gelcoat as bad.

They actually hold up pretty well. I've had a set for a couple of years. They're a bit bulky so I don't use them all the time, but they work out great when I know I will be at a dock/houseboat for sometime. The kids also toss them at each other to pass the time....

Hard to beat at $9.95 each. (The Gumby ones are harder to find.....)

FYI, I would stay away from the ones that have the ribs on the side.

Toys r us has them for $9.95 but for some reason they have been sold out recently.
