Okay...put my stupid little crush on her aside (I think she's friggin' hot)...but is there any final word on her injury?
I know there was a board where some posts were going around about ACL, MCL, etc. but not sure if it has been verified...
I can't locate anything, anywhere...does anyone know?
Thanks,
Chris

she blew all three, acl, mcl and pcl and there was also some damage to her patella ligament and meniscus. she is in pretty good spirits and starting the long rehab process this week. everyone send some positive vibes to her

and the downward spiral begins. you have to question how long it body will hold up. she basicall a "female shapiro", and we all see how he's turned out. (injury wise)

Lee, a female Shapiro?? So she is going to be one of the most dominant female wakeboarders in the world until she is into her 30s? Shapiro is 36-37 now and just started battling these injury problems 4-5 years ago after going balls to the wall on every trick he did. If anybody were to try and land a speed ball that wasn't in the shape darin is in, they would rupture every disc in their lumbar spine. To make it to 29-30 years old still being a threat on tour is a pretty impressive feat. I guess you are right in that regard because she most likely will be one of the best female wakeboarders in the world into her 30s although it obviously wasn't what you were implying. She along with a couple other girls on tour train harder than pretty much every guy on tour when it comes to off the water training.
When she broke her femur, this wasn't the case but it took that injury to make her the rider she has become this year, which is IMHO the best female rider in the world. Style wise I could take it or leave it, but her gymnastics background has let her do tricks that other girls aren't coming close to yet. You can't do anything about blowing out your knee though. Just look at these football players and soccer players that are in perfect physical shape and blow their knee out. Anatomically, it is the most archaic joint in our body in relation to its location and support that it provides. There are not many pro wakeboarders out there that have done something to their knee and fortunately for her, the pro women progression is nothing she has to worry about as for competing on next years tour. Nowadays if you are out for a year in pro men, the learning curve has gotten insane where you can go from one of the the leading guys on tour to not even being in the top 10 the next season. The example I'm going to use is in recent big news of wakeboarding was Amber Wing landing a pete rose. I am not taking anything away from Amber because I have battled many demons with this trick and know how hard it is to learn it, but for a PROFESSIONAL it shouldn't be a big deal. All of the girls on the tour should being doing pete roses in their run. I mean they have been doing toeside roll to reverts for as long as the womens tour has been around, but it took until now for a girl to land a pete since Leslie Kent was doing them seven or eight years ago. I think some of the girls have stepped it up this year big time, Amber being one of them and I really like how Hayley Smith has been riding too, but take Emily Copeland for example. She has been doing the same tour pass since she started riding on tour with maybe two or three tricks added to it. Basically this tangent was all meant to say that Dallas has nothing to worry about and she will come back next year and be right on top like she was this year. With how hard she was working, she probably could use a little break and maybe this was her body telling her she is pushing it too hard. Oh and Darin is still one of the best riders in the world still doing tricks that no one else can do. He just has other priorities with his wakesurf company, coaching and other endeavors.

she came back from one major injury I sure as HELL ain't gonna doubt she can come back from this...oh, and by the way...even if she is 85% the rider that she once was coming back from this that STILL makes her the girl to beat out there!

Darin - Dallas not a good comparison at all. Oh and Darin is still the man
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AeA-Sys08eg
If you had to compare Dallas I would say its better to compare to Parks as far as career trajectory (Early domination followed by subsequent injuries). Except Parks gradually moved into the freestyle category while I think Dallas is way too competitive to go down that road, I think she will get back into better shape than ever and make another comeback. Also I agree with Kyle I dont think the time off will harm Dallas too much the girls just dont progress as fast as the current insane level of the mens.

Yeah...not sure if I buy in to that...
My only worry is that her and Nicola were pushing one another so much (I really think Dallas needed that too...), anyhow I hope Nicola doesn't stop pushing herself now that she is out.
I doubt she will, but sometimes it is easy to relax when your biggest competitor isn't there...

How did her injury occur, what it on a Tantrum to blind? And was it on the leg she broker her femur on or the other one. I've seen her wearing a brace on one leg, I'd be interested to know if it happened to the knee without a brace.

Thanks...what are we looking at in regard to a timeframe. I'm an ex college baseball coach and this would take about 9-11 months to be back. Is it the same for wakboarding?

It should be about 9 months until she is back on the water. She had a very serious injury, and had multiple areas reconstructed/repaired. Much more time needed for recovery than for an arthroscopic knee surgery like JD. But I am sure she will come back kicking arse!!
