or porpusing. At least I think that is what it is called. It is the problem that I am having with my i/o when I trim up a little or a lot, attempting to create a nicer wake. A few questions...

How can I minimize or completely stop this "porpusing"?

Is this normal for an i/o?

Just for background, we usually run 3 people, unweighted and the water is always butta. I thought that with smooth water I wouldn't have this problem, but this is not true.

If I put a bit of weight in the front/middle of the boat would this affect this?

For all you jokers out there, I'm looking at getting a new boat next year so that idea is out. I have to make due with what I have right now. So any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

Buy a hydrofoil (Stingray or Dol-Fin). You can probably find one on eBay for less than $25. That'll take care of your problem.

Done, got the hydrofoil and it helped with getting on plane but has not helped with bouncing.

NEXT idea

Yeah we had the same problem on an 18ft I\O but if you can put a fatsack in the front or get a passenger to sit in the front it eliminates that. I wouldn't trim up more than a quarter though as that usually washes the wake out and just wastes gas :-)

You will just have to get a few sacs and position them around your boat to see what works best. I'd start with some weight in the front and go from there.

i put evryone up front and trim up a quarter. you get a pretty big but steep wake out of that. have to run a short rope.. falls apart about 65ft.

Definitely get some weight up front. This happened a bunch when trying to get a clean wake out of my Glastron. We put some weight in the bow, trimmed up until it started bouncing, then trim down just enough to get the bouncing to stop. Got a fairly decent wake out of it after we got the weight in the right place.
