I wanted to take a peek at one this winter. I went to the Epic site, and of the 7 dealerships listed, half of them did not have any boats. Boat Trader online did not have any close to me either. Are they still a viable company, and are they going to be doing the boat show circuit this winter? Are they looking to expand east with thier dealerships? If someone were to get one that did live over a thousand miles from the closest dealer, how would the warranty work be handled?

Don't know anything about the stability of Epic as a company, but would imagine they are probably hurting right now like all the other recent 'start-ups'. You may want to call Tyrell @ Prestige Water Sports here in Boise, ID. I know he recently sold an Epic to a guy in Ohio or somewhere back east. He could probably answer your ?'s about warranty work, expansion etc. I know he has 1 in stock right now, '07, white. I have demo'd it twice now and like it for what it is. It's definitely a 'niche' boat, probably not for everyone. It's not 'bling-bling-y' & kind of has a 'rugged' (a good rugged) feel to it in the interior vs. a plush MC/BU feel. Nice surf wake, nice 'looking' wakeboarding wake (i didn't ride the wakeboarding wake). I really liked all 4000lbs below the floor ballast. Huge cavernous storage areas all over the boat, in-floor cooler is kind of cool. Transom speakers were cool too. Drives and handles 'pretty good' considering what it is. Give him a call, cool guy, Tyrell @ Prestige Water Sports (208) 343-1983. Good luck.

old timer, I am one of the dealers here in Utah. I have an 08 black Epic in stock. We really like working with Epic. They have been around long enough that they are still making plans for the future, they are not going to drop out. The warranty work can be handled by any merc certified dealer. It's pretty standard stuff and like ICE-a said the boat really is not for everyone, not the greatest family boat, but if your all about the sports it is awsome.

What's the fuel consumption with the Epic?? I can go about 5 hours before we go through a tank of gas on my Malibu and my brother's SAN can go about twice that, both weighted to get a nice wake... How long does the Epic go with all that ballast?

The nice thing about the 8.1 is it has a ton of torq, who cares about horsepower. With that torq it gets on plane faster so you burn less fuel at high rpms. We had a demo day at Utah Lake and only used maybe 1/4 to half in about 6 to 7 hours and the boat was running most of the time. We have done that a couple of times down there. John were you with Gary? That looks like the Epic Van.

I am in the midwest, east in comparison to all the dealers- MD is too far east! I appreciate the help though. For dealers and those in the know- Has anyone seen one of these things in shallow water? My main riding spot is anywhere between 5-15 feet during the summer. I have dinged a prop or 2 coming out of the hole with my 02 x-star... How much deeper of a draft does the epic have and how much does the back end drop on start-up? On a side note, I find it amusing that the guy who made this gas-hog also made a 300 mpg plug in hybrid.

Epic is built at fineline now which builds many other companies such as supreme who has been around for a long time and is not going to disappear anytime soon so I would think that they have a good hold to stay around for some time to come

Epic is now in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. You can see it at Calgary PowerBoats. They are the dealer for Epic in Calgary. Ask for Keith, great person.

I cannot imagine breaking into a market like the one we have at all - but these guys at Epic are doing it. Slowly but surely, they are winning people over with their commitment to our sport. And they are constantly trying to improve on the boat. With some of the big 3 spending ridiculous amounts of money on advertising (PWT, magazines, events, etc) it is very expensive to play ball at the top level. For example, I own an 08' MasterCraft X-Star, and I can tell you, in my humble guesstimate, that a more than usual percentage of the cost, is strictly to cover their overwhelming advertising budget. Do you really think the "Boat Review" issue of WBM is free, or for that matter, completely unbiased each year? Big props to Chris and Gary for trying to mix it up at all. Not easy, not cheap. I hope that they can make it!

the wrap is very thick, but it will sratch if you not carefull. However if scrathed it won't start to rip or peel.

Old Timer, We have no problem on our private lake that is only 3.5-4 feet around the corners and 5 to 6 feet in the straights. It actually kicks up less mud then Our VLX. It also makes a huge wake on the shallow lake. by far the biggest wake we have had on the lake.

Maybe the American boat manufactures should go to congress to ask for a few billion since unlike GM/FORD/CHRYSLER they don't suck and they are hurting.

Hey Rod, What boat is that? The transom audio has since changed in design. Was that an earlier boat with a new wrap on it?

From what I understand, the hull was also one of the last ones manufactured in Canada, where most the 08 were manufactured at the Fineline Plant. essentially the same boat except the audio is clarion vs. kicker.

your both wrong, its an 08 which i can prove to you. like i said before it was the last one built with the clarion stereo. it may have been built in 07 , but was never completed and rigged till 08, therefore it got an 08 stamp.
