How do these boards differ? I was wanting more of a W2W board with a lot of "up" type pop compared to my current '07 Transcend. I've ridden the Shane and really like it. It was much more explosive than my Transcend and still landed well. So how does the Lyman differ in pop? I assume it's supposed to be faster which I really don't need it to be any faster than the Shane. Thoughts?

I ride an 08 Shane and have ridden a 139 Lyman a friend was demo-ing. I thought both boards were pretty fast, with the Lyman being a bit faster. Both boards have a lot of pop. The Shane is a lot less forgiving with those cupped fins in. The Lyman was way looser.

I went to the Shane after nearly 3 yrs on the Fish (short wide and loose), and I sometimes wish I had stayed with a looser board. I like the pop and the locked in feel on edge of the Shane though.

Hey dan, take the cupped fins off! Makes it way more forgiving and its not as slick as you might expect, it really locks on edge still but its really easy to break free when you want to. I rode it with the fins and took them off because they got destroyed on rails, and at first barely noticed the difference, didn't feel too slick, but when I took a sketchy landing the board didn't punish me. Try it out

The '09 Shane is a different shape than the '08 though right? The '09 doesn't have any removable fins.

Correct.

i've ridden both and am moving from a shane to a lyman. they both have plenty of pop - but the lyman holds a better edge when you want it to and the landings feel nicer - probably because you carry more horiztonal speed. i'm a wake to wake rider also - so it just makes riding a long line less difficult.

Jarret, I was asking Kyle about the Lyman when we demoed the Shane, and he said it tends to pop more out to the flats... possibly because its faster?

Yeah, that's what I've heard as well and had hoped for more specifics. I guess I just need to try and get my hands on a few different shapes.

Is he still working at the WH?
