I know this is a common thread but I would like advice about a boat that would be good at both wakeboarding and skiing. I have been considering a 2005 Supra 22V which I could get a year end price of about $44K. Is that a good deal? Any other boats I should consider? Thanks

check out the malibu xti, dd, but with a wakehull. the LSV also puts out a fairly flat ski wake, its not going to be pro quality, but fine for a pleasure skier.

The supra 22ssv is a great crossover boat and when the wakeplate is down it throws a great ski wake and as you are probably already aware, it throws an awsome wakeboard wake. I paid just over $65 000 CDN for mine.

I too wanted a crossover boat and bought a closeout 2005 MasterCraft X-2. It's built on the proven 205 hull which was designed as a ski hull.

We have a '04 Malibu Wakesetter direct drive. The hull is the same wake hull as the VLX, but with a straight inboard. This boat in now called the I Ride. In addition we have the wedge and center ballast tank. Great crossover boat and plenty of storage.

Right on with the Supra 22SSV. The MC 205V/X-2 (X-1 now for 2006) would be a good canditate also...if you're ready to spend the $$. BTW, the'05 Australian collegiate national slalom record was set behind a 22SSV.

It's a few more bucks but the Nautique SV211 is a good crossover boat with little to compromise. I've heard the MC X2 is good too, but no personal experience. I wouldn't mind checking out the Supra 22ssv, they build a nice boat.

I will throw in my own boat here. We spend a lot of time both skiing and boarding, and so investigated quite a bit. We went with the Calabria Cal-Air. The Cal-Air is a Direct Drive with a good skiing wake, but also has the Pure-Vert under floor balast system. 750 lbs that fills and drains in seconds. Check it out. dg

my MB Sports 190 Plus has been a good cross over boat. Slalom wake is great, while wakeboarding is pretty good with a little ballast. It has the double wake but for the money it's been great.

my friend has a 04' BU 21 XTi and i think that boat is a good crossover...flat wake for skiiing...but then the wedge and ballast give it a good sized wake for boarding...best crossover boat on the market IMO

It's an X2 for us, great wakeboard boat as all will know, but my wife also runs though the course, and is very happy with it. If you are looking to get the best from the boats skiing performance, we just run it very light (fuel and passengers). As a good sales point the wife skied behind a friends Prostar at the weekend and didn't even notice that it was a purpose ski boat.

I demoed the 2006 X-2, and the Malibu VLX and XTi both with the diamond hull. In my opinion, the ski wake is too big. I skiied at 15' off and 32 to 35 mph. I am hoping the SV-211 will do a better job of skiing, and now I will have to give the Supra SSV a shot. This is good information. I was a little disappointed after the test rides. I was thinking that I would have to buy two boats, and I truely do not like that idea. I too am in the market for the perfect cross-over boat. Does it exist or is it just a dream?

Try the X1. I forgot they changed the x2 for this coming year. I have an 01, and run the course with it all the time. The hull is the 205 hull, which is awsa tournament approved in the DD form. If you keep the passengers low, the wake is nice at 32mph, but when you get into 34-36 runs, it is very nice.

Look at the Tige 22i - great crossover performance - was the only direct drive in Wakeboarding Mags 'Greatest Wakeboard Boats' Issue. Also killer seating, because everyone takes a break sometime - 6 rear facing seats behind the windshield and 2 butts can fit in the front of the open bow for rear facing as well.

With the X-1 (old X-2) make sure you fill the center ballast. The folks at the dealer recommended fill it all the way. (I'm still experimenting with how much; at least half way and perhaps all the way). It will lower the nose and flatten the wake. Once you're at 32mph it gets good and between 34-36, as Paul said, it's very good.

Eagle. I noticed this after I fried the center ballast impeller. The sac was stuck full, 3 people in the boat and the wake was better than no center ballast with 2 people in the boat? I third that between 32-36, the wake is like butter...Too bad I'm a wuss and ski at 31...
