When i started him out, we just threw on his board, parked the boat, gave him the handle and i yanked him up by hand (pulling the rope)until he got used to getting up.... Then as he got behind the boat, they always want to stand up right away,so i told aj to count to 30 before he stood up, this works if they do it , obliviously they get up sooner but the point is not to stand up too early. As far as board sizes go AJ started out with the motive 109.. rode for 1 1/2 years and he is now on the HL state 125 and is progressing quite well, and he only weighs 55lbs....so learning i recommended 109 under 55 and 119 or 125 over 55, but it really depends on the kids and how motivated they are to ride...
