I was just looking at some trim tab setups and the pamflet from Bennett trim tabs say its good for wakeboarding. Does anyone know if these trim tabs can be fitted to work properly on say a 94 mastercraft prostar 205. What are your opinions.
doesnt really make the wake bigger...maybe a little cleaner. the most it will do is allow you to raise the back of the boat to make the wake smaller. That way slalom skiers will have a better wake, then you can lower the tabs again and have wakeboarding wakes.
supra & moomba use them. they call them "wakeplates". i wouldnt want to not have it now. when i'm cruising down the lake i lower it all the way and when we're riding it is usually all the way up. when it's down it flattens out the wake & when its up the wake is huge & rampy. in the down position it lifts the back of the boat creating a smoother ride, when its in the up position the back of the boat sits deep in the water.
Like the others have said it will not make your wake bigger, just elongate the planing surface pushing the back of the boat higher in the water most likely resulting in a smaller wake.
Comparing the hull of your 1994 Mastercraft Prostar 205 to these boats designed to use trim tabs is not a real good comparison. The hull of your boat is not designed to use trim tabs it may not benefit from their addition. If you apply too much weight at the very back of the boat it may porpoise at higher speeds. It is probably easier to unload the weight then add a trim tab.
allesandro, if you wakeboard with a heavily wieghted prostar the trimplate,s will only help you get on plane sooner....beside that you want them in the up position anyway.
