What is the tower size on a 2006 X-star. I have to order some brackets for tower speakers.

2-7/8"? I would measure it if I were you. Most speakers have a specific Mastercraft mount.

3" for sure. Skylon and ProFlight use 2-7/8" for some of their towers, but the NEW Mastercraft towers are all 3"

I can tell you that is 3" on an 06 Xstar.I had to do a little bit of custom adaptation to get my fusions to fit. The new 07 xstar and X80 still have the 3" diameter. All of the other Xseries boats, X2, X15, X45 all have a smaller diameter.

Newer Mastercraft towers are 2-7/8" diameter tubing. Most companies including Skylon and Proflight are using 2-3/8" diameter tubing.

To get specific, Mastercraft is using a 2.5" schedule 40 pipe which equates to a 2-7/8" outside diameter (close to 3", cut not quite). If you guys are measuring 3" then that is because you are mounting at or near one of the bends or rolls. The pipe will flatten out when it is bent causing the OD to become larger.

Hope this helped and didn't confuse.

Thanks guys....I think. I have an 06' X-star and I am trying to mount the fusion T-series. My dealer sent me 2.5" clamps, I guess I need to call them back and see about getting a larger size.

Mike,
You will have to file out the fusion clamps a bit. It's really not a big deal to do so.

Fluid,
There is a difference between the 06 and 07 towers on an XStar. It really did not matter where you were mounting on an 06, it was larger than 2-7/8" everywhere.

Mike,

Did you mean file out the 2.5" clamps or file out the 2 7/8" clamps when they come in? I really appreciate your help, this has been a very busy time and I just want my boat stereo finished. Thanks again.

Not the 2.5", I'm talking about the 2-7/8". I don't think that you would be able to file the 2.5 enough to make them fit. I think you would start to get into the screw holes, Plus that would be alot of work. On the 2-7/8" clamps, you only have to file an area where the clamps come together.}

I was right. I thought when I measured the Fusion clamps they came out to 2-7/8". I confuse myself a lot when it comes to tower diameters.
