wonderin what options I have to weight and I/O, specifically a 17.5 sea ray, can't afford a new boat so might as well do what i can

We have a 21' Larson. We run 1200#, two sacs on the floor, down the center line. Works great. Play with weight placement and trim settings (not necessarily trimmed all the way up as some will tell you!!). You should be able to get a decent wake. The most important upgrade for an i/o is perfect pass IMO.

Another excellent upgrade is a 5 blade prop... much easier to get going and maintain speed while weighted down.

Also, weight in the bow is very important with an I/O. A while back I had a 19ft I/O and ran about 550lbs in the rear and 700lbs in the front

i ws thinking fat buddies on each side of the engine and a sac in the front, i just don't know fur sure if they would fit between the seats, time to get out the measuring tape

I have a Sea Ray 200BR and have been running a fat sack in front of the back bench or under it. I then have 4 pool "tubes" under the two front cushions in the bow. Finally, sometimes I put two more pool tubes in the walkway in the bow.

Where do you get pool tubes?

Any pool store will have them. They're pretty cheap. They aren't too heavy but it means you can squeeze them into smaller compartments. The problem is that they don't have threaded fittings so you have to hold the fill line in the inlet of the tube.

Another option is waterbed tubes. I've never used them, but it sounds like they're the same idea but a little bigger, and have proper (wakeboard style) threaded fittings. I'm guessing they weight in the neighborhood of 150 pounds. Look up waterbeds in the phone book and see what you get.
