Hi Help need some advice.
I am a water skier and my son is a wakeboarder. Looking for a boat that would give him a good wake board wake and me a small ski wake. Also, looking for overall quality and space efficiency. I don't want a big boat, 21ft max. Would appreciate any and all input. Thanks.

go with a malibu 21 xti, sunscape lsv or a wakesetter with a diamond hull, or a sanger D215, the wake hull with the direct drive motor is right up your ally it sounds like.

Tige 20V Z1, sea trial both.

20V = 20' L and a 96" beam
Z1 = 21' L and a 100" beam

Ballast and cruise control are options on both, both respond well to ballast, and throw a killer surf wake.

The 20V will ski better then the Z1, and the Z1 will board better the 20V. Both will carry 6-8 comfortably.

we test drove a nautique 211 which had a decent wakeboard wake and an excellent ski wake. very high quality craftsmenship, but it felt small inside.

I have the MasterCraft X-7, it's a great cross over boat, and very well built boat, all fiberglass = no wood = no dry rot = Just Havin' Fun In da Sun..

Malibu VTX.... 20' long, gets great reviews by boarders & skiers, all the Malibu bling, 1200 lbs of ballast, & 98" wide so interior feels bigger.

That said, I'd go with a boat carried by a great dealer before I went with a boat carried by a crappy dealer.

Look at a Calabria boat. Model Cal-Air. The waterski is great behind this boat and the wakeboarding wake is very good. I have been behind this boat and if you Check the link It is all true.

Centurion Falcon 20V. 102" beam, AWSA approved hull for skiing. Great ramp for boarding and a good surf boat too.

I second the Falcon V it is a great cross over hull and just under 21 ft. Also, the Centurion Enzo SV220, although it is 22 ft. it has a similar hull to the Falcon V just a little bigger and a lot nicer finishing.

Nautique 211 = Awesome for riding and skiing.

This is a great deal for an incredible boat. I rode behind it last weekend. Great Wake!

what kind of waterskiing are are you doing and what level? open water or course? that will make a big difference in boat choice. if you plan on skiing the course , avoid all vdrives.

I have a friend with a fully loaded 07' X-14, 100 hrs, like new condition for sale. It can be bought for $39K, but it's in E TN. It is a gorgeous boat though.

I would say check out the VTX. They make it with a wake hull and cut diamond hull. If you lean more towards the skiing side get the diamond hull. If you lean more towards wakeboarding and surfing get the wake hull. Even if you like to wakeboard and surf the diamond hull will still work. It just needs more weight. The best part about it is that you can go with no weight and have a solid ski wake to a great wakeboard wake in 5 minutes with out taking up storage or using any sacks. All the ballast is under the floor and drop the wedge. Quality of the boat is top notch as well.

Nautique sv211 it measures 20.9 without the swim platform.
Great wake for wakebording and a great ski boat.
The only v-drive USA Waterski-Certified to pull water ski tournaments and when you load it up it throws a nice wakeboarding wake.

I'm looking for the same thing. I was under the impression I could find it in a 205V.

If you are looking at pre owned then my experience with the supra launch or launch SS is the best way to go. Great Slalom wake, and nice boardin wake for the kid. Tons of front cavity room, hydro trim plates for wake preference, and expandable factory ballast system that can get you to that vdrive wake. Here are a couple of wake pics on an SS

Maybe in a DD 205, but I'd bet not many slalom skiers would bother with the v-drive. Just depends on your tolerance going over that wake.

From a DD boat, you can have a wake that is capable of allowing a rider to do jumps, inverts, etc... Empty the ballast, lower the trim and you have a nice waterski wake. Sorry I do not have any pics of my slolam wake to share

The X14 is a much better ski boat than the X-9 from almost everybody I have ever talked to.
