I have a 2001 quad cab dakota. It has the 4.7 v8. just got the boat and really havn't pulled the boat yet. Is my truck going to work or is it going to to lite?Upload

I couldn't find the 2001 V8 on Edmunds, but the 2002 SLT has a towing capacity of ~ 6000 lbs. The dry weight of that boat is 4000, and I think the trailer adds ~ 1000. Add some more for fuel, equipment and passengers (I don't know if the tow rating includes 4 people in the vehicle), and you're getting real close.

I use a Land Rover LR3 for my B52 V23 and it does fine, although my tow rating is 7700 lbs. I haven't had any problems stopping and about half of my trip to the lake is hilly country roads.

Nice boat, BTW. Is the the Team Edition?

Yeah it is the team edition. I think I am just going to have to buy a fullsize! I was hoping to use my extra cash for some upgrades but oh well! Hey do you surf or just wakeboard? Here is a pic of my wave! Not bad I dont think.

Your truck will pull it fine. My buddy Matt has the same truck and he has pulled countless B-52 V23's to and from boatshows to help me out. He even pulled Dan's B-52 V23 TE to SML one time.... ;)

I pretty much wakeboard, although I will pull the skate out every now & then just for fun.

If you are interested, here's what you do to kick that wake up a notch (not that it really needs it):

- buy 10 "pop products" bags, 40lbs each.
- lay 3 in each of the V-drive compartments
- put 3 in the cooler.
- leave the last one out to balance the wake.

Here's what it looks like (rider is 85ft out at ~ 22.5 MPH):

Dan, I'm about ready to skip out on school and go to lake Anna.Wake looks awesome as always.

B52=awesome. The dakota should do fine towing, though stopping might worry me a little.

one more b-52 wake picture.

There's an MB for sale in phx it's DIALED. You should ask Rich (the poster) about how they weight it. I want to say (don't quote me) but it had quite a bit of bow weight.

yup VT boat, with just a little extra weight in it.

I was a huge fan of the trailers on the b-52's.It should make it a lot easier to tow with the dakota
