We'll be going up to Oroville this weekend and wondered if there are any hidden dangers or places one should avoid. Any general recommdations would be great too. I plan on launching at the dam.
launch at Bidwell...i hear the water is very high right now so you should be fine! the south fork is always a great choice for goodwater...make sure you drop by bidwell marina, they have a floating bar/resturaunt with a hudge screen tv.
ask for Bob Mcguffin at the dock he will take care of you...tell him Pete Martini
Thanks for the heads up. If we do goto the marina that would be the one. Hopefully only for food or something....Ya I was considering the south or middle forks to ski on.
this time of year the water drops at least a foot per day...this can make for wood in the water, and if you house boat, make sure you back off everday!
I was at Orville two weeks ago and the water was at the high water mark. There was a lot of debris in the water (i.e. logs, branches, etc...)that was kind of dangerous, but hopefully most of it has been washed to the shore by now.
