We are just learning.. Don't want to spend a small fortune on a board. We have a choice between a 4.9 brodcast or a 5.6... Will the 4.9 be forgiving enough to learn on and allow us to progress quicker.

I started on the Broadcast 4.9 and it has been great to learn on. My buddy has the 5.6 and I can't ride it as well, it catches the wave easier but less maneuverable. All of our riders weigh 125lbs and 200lbs.

Our first boat board was the 4.9. We still use if for newbies, although I removed 2 of the 3 fins so we can get a good attempt at a surface 3.

I don't know about progress quicker, but the 4.9 can do spins easier but also likes a bigger wave especially for those 200lb folks. If you don't have a pretty big wave, the 200lb peeps will have a hard time learning and staying in the pocket with the 4.9. So I'd say the 5.6 is easier to freeride and practice control---which is what these entry boards are about. Have fun.

You just happened to ride them at TWC huh? What's up with every single one of your post being a recommendation for Triple X or the posts where you talk about having "your" version of the Xtrak traction in stock?

C'mon Tim. Everyone else has been pretty good about the rules lately why is Triple X having such a hard time with them?

Supporting caskimmer here. loudnproud referred to himself as Tim Cameron in the past, one of the principals in Triple X skim and surf. This blatant self-promotion and what would appear to be deceptive posts is disrespectful to everyone else in the forum, especially those that make efforts to adhere to the guidelines David has promulgated for posting here.

We could use less of folks like that.
