I've been doing a lot of winching lately with friends and one of the nuisances is getting in and out of your boots quickly.i just got an 08 slingshot recoil which has the 4x4 hole pattern but slingshots hole pattern is about a 1/4" wider. i custom drilled holes in the base plate to match the slingshot pattern and mounted burton mission bindings to the board. Using old linerless Lamar snowboard boots, i made some drain holes in the rubber outsole.

finally, i was able to test the idea and it worked like a charm. the boot/binding setup held me in just as well as any good wakeboard boot as i hit the box and rail we had setup. another advantage was my feet did not get torn up from the thorns, stick, rocks, etc. The only problem I'm running into is getting the boots dry, it took a good 2+ hours of running the hair dryer in them.

imo it would be quite easy for slingshot to modify their boots to have rubber outsoles that also dry quickly. it could be really appeal to the winchers and cable park riders.

Great job man. I hypothesized on WW about step-in bindings years ago...and many people shot the idea down. With the new-look bindings that are almost shoes, the step-in idea for winchers/cable riders just might become a reality.

i saw a guy at a rail jam with snowboard bindings on his slingshot but he still used his slingshot boots

couldn't you just take the baseplate off of a closed toe boot and use that. Most close toe boots are almost snowboard boots anyways, but the draining and business would already be there

i just bought a pair of xsjado inline skates that have a step in binding system. thats the first time ive seen that on a wakeboard tho. after riding these skates, i definatly think that a pair of step in wakeboard bindings could be the next hot thing.
awesome job on the mod zane

the only problem i see is that when you wreck yourself at the cable your feet are most definitely not coming out as easily.

cool mod though.

If it's a pair of decent snowboard bindings with a good rachet, it wouldn't be hard to quickly unstrap after a fall.

i meant when you take a hard fall your feet won't come out. if you catch an edge your feet are probably staying locked in with that setup. not sure if that's good or bad...

oh ok yeah thats kind of personal preference though cuz i come from a snowboard background where you don't really want the board coming off when you crash hard

Take that board out on a powder day! It will float like crazy! My buddy did it with a 145 Response.

Kyle, i was wondering how the setup would ride in snow especially powder, but was the board too wide to easily make turns?
