it's not clear like some lakes and is run-off for farmlands in the central valley. the water is tested on a regular basis, and always passes.

Whoever coined the term probably never paid a visit to Elsinore in the summer, otherwise it would have been called the "not so clear but still way better than Elsinore Delta"

I know alot of people call Delta home and for some people insulting it is like a personal attack so I will only say I think the name Dirty Delta is a well deserved name.

Well it provides something like 55% of the drinking water for SoCal and guess what, it doesn't get any cleaner on the way down there!

Has anyone noticed how much the Disco Bay sewer outfall has been bubbling up lately there on Old river?

The turbulance literally pulls on the boat when I'm driving through it. (The wife said we've been drinking too much beer this summer!)

Brings back memories surfing Sewer Peak at Pleasure Point, Santa Cruz back in the 70's (except that wasn't treated!)

Rich, Eeeeeeew! Ha, ha, ha... Say what you will, guys, the Delta is the reason I live in the bay area. Otherwise I think I'd be dodging out to the sierra's.

STAY AWAY!!!! The Delta is a breading gound for bad things. Things like style, coolness, and lax attitudes!

My point was it looks worse then it is. I remember Chris and my 2 girls having a "tea party" in their little plastic pool out on the Island full of dirty Delta water when they were toddlers (much to the chagrin of my wife who freaked out when she realized they were drinking it)

And you have to watch out for 300lb things falling out of the sky after going huge.

Nice riding yesterday Buff.

Quit Hating! Waters fine. For all day riding conditions - CANT BEAT IT! - glass everywhere, all the time. For all you haters - "much love" - spread the word - More butter for us.

No insult intended on my part, I CHOOSE to ride there pretty often.

I tell you all to stay away. There is bad stuff in the water, 300 Lb sturgeons, floating logs, and a guaranteed sinus infection. BAD BAD BAD. Stay away....... Gary- don't know what you are talking about- never saw you - I was riding at Tahoe yesterday and it was Butta

Personally, I've never been on the Delta, since we have all the water we need 'round here. But a friend of ours used to live and ski on the delta, and said that he'd come across people dumping their toilets, and garbage. Many old "house junks" just ran their sewage directly into the water.

Told a story about waiting for a pick-up after a ski session, and had a turd float by.

Gave me the creeps.

I got herpes in the delta..... Well technically it was on the delta but in, on who really cares about the particulars. Just a random thought i think if someone had like a Taco boat sorta like a taco truck you'd make a killing on the delta. And when people say delta butter they arent talking about the water, they are seriously talking about all the butter thats dumped on to its shores completely disgusting if you asked me

Fisherman's Cut is not a no wake zone, despite some guy going crazy on you. I would have had the Sheriff on the phone after he fired one off.

I wonder what crazy man's reaction would have been had he seen the huge tugboat jamming down the Cut at the end of my last wakeskating session...
Old    ubertuber            09-22-2006, 3:30 PM Reply
Crazy man = Claus Von Wendel

I'm sure the Sheriff would LOVE to hear about that transient shooting a gun off.

After reading the article, I think we'll pass on by rather than drop near the junkyard.

Damn KEV.

Bored at work while I am sitting on a houseboat in the middle of Lake Powell ( with Internet access to boot).

You should be here right now. We have a sweet little cove in Warm Creek. It is a little windy now but we are heading out for a surf session in a few.

Have fun at work tomorrow!!!!!!!

cause you can't see 12" below the surface... and cause you might have to hop a tire before your cut... Still its one of the greatest spots to ride in

Has anyone ever noticed the coffee (poop) like water on any wakeboarding video from Florida? Why does it look that way?

cypress trees on the lake stain the water.

Ok everyone your right, stay on the lake, the delta is SCARY. Everyone who knows better loves it. So get up early, get your boarding in before 9am and pray for no wind on the lake. Leave the delta for the real boarders.

alot of rivers and creeks in jersey are coffee color. everyone here calls it cedar water and it stains after awhile

"Leave the delta for the real boarders."

Thanks for the clarification!!

Someday before I die I need to ride the Dirty Delta. I don't think I have ever gotten a decent wakeboarding set in after 11 o'clock cause of the condidtions here.
Old     (holtesm)      Join Date: Sep 2006       09-24-2006, 7:34 PM Reply
Please stay away from the Delta so you do not catch anything or have something rot off. I have friends that work in public works department that say even a slight exposure to the Delta water can cause wood in your boat to dry rot, not to mention what the extremely neutral pH can do to your hair and skin (it is like a supernatural conditioner). Stay away please, so we don't have to put up with crowded sloughs and the screams of painful problems like pulling off your first blah blah blah. The algae in it is also a natural oxygen depleter when it dies. Bad stuff.

to all those trying to talk people out of going to the delta, please stop now. i understand they're just jokes, but damn, they sound more stupid each time.

Simply trying to state how stupid people are being when they cite the Delta as a cesspool. They drink it every day after a little chlorine treatment. Sorry for the sarcasm.
