I'm really struggling with finding the right amp for my sub. I have one 10" Kicker L5 with dual 2 ohm voice coils thats rated to handle 450 RMS (900 peak). If I wire it in series it presents a 4 ohm load, parallel a 1 ohm load. I'm trying to be as cost effective as possible here so keep that in mind.

As background, I am running a pair of Wetsounds Pro 80s off a JL e4300. Im open to making changes to that if it will work out better. (e.g. new amp to run sub and towers, sell the JL)

The Wet Sounds Syn 1 is stable at 1 ohm mono, but I don't believe cost effective and 1 ohm stable go together.

You mean Syn 1 and cost effective don't go together...

so I need to wire it in series if I want to remain cost conscious? Is there a disadvantage to running at 4 ohms other than less power?

This amp would be cost effective, heard it's decent. Plus plenty room to expand with it.

If you wanted to save a little money I would at least go with this one http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_info.php?cPath=1_22&products_id=47.

thats 600W RMS which is 150W higher than rated for the sub. wont that kill the sub?

More power = less distortion.

Nope the kickers are tough... Keep it in small sealed box and it will be fine.

I agree with everyone, feeding it a little more than rated RMS will be fine.

I have one of my kicker L7's on a mmatts amp @ 1ohm. The amp runns very cool. You can find them used for around 200$
