i have an 07 LSV and am wondering where some of you guys have mounted your amps. Has anyone drilled into the epoxyed boards under the carpet on the hull side in the passenger stoarge compartment where the batteries are? Doing most the install myself so i was wondering if those were safe to drill into

nu bu - Thanks. If you are ever in the area stop in for a tour. We have had lots of norcal business from Tracy to Redding and Napa to Lake Tahoe but no one from Washington. We did finish up a 39 Ford Panel for client in Corpus Christy Texas and a 56 Chevy PU that was delivered to Utah last month!!

Here is a the rest of the install for the 07 VLX:

^^^^Textbook amp rack. As long as their is a fan on that amp it will run cooler than an amp mounted just to a wall. Buildign a good amp rack will increase airflow across the heatsinks.

what length screws are you guys using?

hairbandude, Sam - The entire top edge of the amp is where the heatsink and the fan is located. All of the heat rises into the heatsink and out the grill mesh material. Under extreme loads or long periods of play on hot days the internal fan will automatically turn on and increase airflow across the heatsink. If the top edge of the amp was covered then it would go into thermal protection on a warm day after some heavy playing.

The Boston amps area not picky how they are mounted but vertical like in Erik's boat is the best. I have 4 Boston GT amps mounted upside down in the headliner of my car.
