I have noticed there are some trailers with disc brakes and others with drum. Has anyone here converted a drum brake trailer to disc? and what was the cost? I have found a few boats I am very interested in but they have drum brakes on them and I would prefer disc. Wanted to find out if this was even an option.

Why would you prefer Disc?

Yes it can be done, you have to change the entire axle. You can order one right out of the basspro cat. It's a pretty simple change, the hardest part is bleeding the brakes. I just did it to my Fathers 24 foot boat trailer stops way better.

No need to change the entire axle.

Clicky

The hardest part is bleeding the fluid until clear, if you do not have the proper equipment.

Edit: Also get a new proper master cylinder. Then everything starts fresh.
